Today is May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Every year the global community of sexual and gender minorities identifies one specific focus issue for the celebrations around May 17th. "Y.M.C.A." is a song by the American disco group Village People. Village People was the creation of Jacques Morali, a French composer. It became a big hit in the gay community, the reason for releasing it today. ‘Y.M.C.A.’ was released in 1978 as the only single from their third studio album Cruisin' (1978). The song reached Number 2 on the US charts in early 1979, reached Number 1 in the UK and No. 1 in the Netherlands, becoming the group's biggest hit.
